Checking a Manitoba carrier: NSC certificate, safety rating and profile
Updated 2026-10-27
Winnipeg is one of the busiest trucking hubs in Canada, and many carriers on Prairie and cross-border lanes are certified in Manitoba. The province issues their National Safety Code (NSC) Safety Fitness Certificates, and the carrier profile behind each certificate is the record a broker should read first.
The number to ask for
Ask for the Manitoba NSC number with the legal name, then match both against the certificate and the profile. Many Manitoba carriers also run into the US, so ask for the USDOT number too and check that the names and addresses on both records agree.
What the carrier profile shows
The profile summarises the carrier's safety record over the monitoring period.
- Safety rating: Satisfactory, Satisfactory Unaudited, Conditional or Unsatisfactory
- Convictions for the carrier and its drivers
- CVSA inspection results, including out-of-service defects
- Reportable collisions
- Audit results and the certificate's status
What to look for
Out-of-service inspections that repeat the same defect, convictions piling up in a short period, and a Conditional rating all point to a carrier the province is watching. For cross-border carriers, an Unsatisfactory or out-of-service result on either side of the border is a reason to stop.
Keeping it current
A profile is a snapshot. HaulProof reads Canadian and FMCSA records together and alerts you the same day a monitored carrier's rating, authority or insurance filing changes, so you don't find out after the truck is loaded.
