Checking a Saskatchewan carrier: NSC certificate, safety rating and SGI profile

Updated 2026-10-27

In Saskatchewan, the National Safety Code (NSC) program for carriers is run by SGI, the provincial vehicle insurer and licensing body. Carriers based there hold an NSC number and a safety certificate, and SGI keeps the carrier profile that shows how they actually perform on the road.

The number to ask for

Ask for the Saskatchewan NSC number with the carrier's legal name, then match both against the certificate and the profile. Carriers that haul grain, fertilizer or oilfield equipment into the US should also give you a USDOT number; check that the legal name and address agree on both records.

What the carrier profile shows

The profile summarises the carrier's safety record over the monitoring period.

What to look for

A rating that dropped to Conditional, out-of-service results that repeat the same defect, and convictions bunched into a few months are all signs the province is watching the carrier. A certificate number the carrier can't match to its legal name is a reason to stop and confirm identity before anything else.

Keeping it current

A profile is a snapshot of one day. HaulProof reads Canadian and FMCSA records together and alerts you the same day a monitored carrier's rating, authority or insurance filing changes.
